Approximately seven kilometres of riparian planting was started in 2006 and up to 10,000 plants were planted, with the help of 5 local schools that were involved as part of our education programme.  Within this programme students gained native plant and cultural knowledge. This planting project took less than two years to complete.

The aim of this project was to restore and protect traditional waterways, encourage

bio-diversity and to share traditional knowledge among the local community hapu & iwi.

Waimarie's commitment and passion have successfully contributed to the enhancement of the Waipao stream as the waters are of a spiritual significance to Waimarie people.
